From Chaos to Clarity: Some Advice For Nonprofits in Uncertain Times
March 27, 2025What Happens at the Fundraising Conference…Gets Turned Into a Blog Post: TPC’s AFP ICON 2025 Recap
May 23, 2025A few weeks ago, I conducted a planning intensive with the incredible CEO of NoHo Home Alliance. She’s brilliant, resourceful, and deeply committed to her work. After our session, she sent me this message:
“Truly the best money I’ve ever spent… Since our meeting on Friday, I’ve already taken 3 or 4 steps you suggested and made more progress than I have in weeks. You made things actionable. The kindness to myself is that I wasn’t prioritizing development tasks because I didn’t even know where to begin.”

Here’s the pattern: nonprofit leaders show up to our session overwhelmed, juggling too much, and feeling like they’re dropping the ball on fundraising and board development. But by the end of our time together, they’re energized. They’ve got clarity. They’ve got a plan. And maybe most importantly—they’ve got permission to stop beating themselves up for not doing the myriad of things they think they “should” be doing.
That’s what these intensives are designed to do.

So What Happens In A Planning Intensive, Really?
Remember, I’m The Philanthropy Coach. So, the planning intensives we offer are steeped in inquiry-based coaching, structured reflection, thought partnership, and action planning.
We slow down long enough to take a clear-eyed look at your biggest challenge, whether it be fundraising, getting your Board to fundraise, restructuring your Development team, or co-creating your Development strategy for the year.
We dig deep into what’s working, what’s not, and where you actually want to go. Whether it’s a 4-hour deep dive or the kickoff to a longer coaching relationship, it’s time set aside just for you (or your team) —to problem-solve, get unstuck, and reconnect to your purpose.
I bring 20+ years of nonprofit experience to the table, but I’m not here to throw jargon or templates at you. I’m here to ask the right questions, reflect back what I see, and help you leave the session with:
- Immediate Relief from Overwhelm
Most of my clients walk away from our very first session saying, “I can’t believe how much better I feel.” That’s because you share everything swirling in your head and I help you turn it into a clear, doable, codified plan. - Lived Experience That Resonates
I’ve sat in your seat. I’ve planned the gala, created the pitch deck, wrangled the board, and lost sleep over year-end campaigns. I coach from a place of lived experience, not theory. I get it. - Radical Honesty, Delivered with Compassion
I’ll tell you the truth—but always with kindness and respect. No shame, no blame. Just clarity, perspective, and a path forward. - Real Skills for the Long Haul
From better time management and real donor strategy to managing up and setting boundaries. I’ll help you build the skills you need to not only survive, but thrive as a leader.
If You’re Feeling Behind, Burned Out, or Scared —You’re Not Alone
You don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.
You deserve support that’s strategic, human, and grounded in joy. And if that sounds like the kind of partnership you’re looking for, I’m here for it.
