How am I different from other Coaches and Consultants?

Well, I’m 20+ years into my career in philanthropy, most of that time spent as an active fundraising practitioner and executive management for thriving community based organizations. I’ve walked my talk and I can offer you a wealth of knowledge and practical experience as your consultant and coach. Also, it’s important to note that my coaching style is more graceful disruptor than a passive advisor. My intention, the ultimate goal, is to always support you through positive change that will transform the way you do business and how you lead. 

Though I’ve been consulting part-time since 2013, I took the plunge into full-time entrepreneurship in December of 2021. In my most recent staff position, I served as Chief Development Officer for A Place Called Home (APCH) in South Central Los Angeles. There I was an active leader in the organization, and I directed all programs and initiatives related to the agency’s  marketing and communications, annual fund, major gifts, special campaigns and donor stewardship programs.

As a Consultant, I’ve partnered with Compass Group, based out of the DC Metro Area, Fitz Nonprofit Consulting, based in San Diego, and Essex & Drake, a boutique firm that has been serving nonprofits in Northern California for more than 30 years. In my consulting practice, I guide clients through major expansion campaigns, board recruitment and development, development audits, restructuring initiatives and the creation of strategic development plans. 

As a self-proclaimed “accidental expert” at revitalizing fundraising programs to realize exponential growth, I have become skilled at building authentic, lasting relationships with philanthropists, community leaders and corporate representatives alike, and I thoroughly enjoy coaching other professional fundraisers to do the same. Using a no-nonsense, heart-centered approach to instruction, I find meaning and joy in coaching non-profit leaders  to turn their passion for the transformative power of philanthropy into strategic goal setting and effective daily action. 

My formal education has awarded me a Master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in Non-profit sector management from California State University, Northridge, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Irvine.
